Job summary

IMEG Corp is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern for a 10–12 week summer program in Seattle, WA. You will assist in analysis, design and oversight of electrical systems in buildings as part of a collaborative team of engineers and consultants.

You’ll gain hands-on project work, participate in documenting progress, and work across hospitality, mixed‑use, and government markets aligned with energy‑efficient design goals. Sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a BS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Prior internship in building design consulting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design portions of projects according to code and IMEG standards.
  • Research commercially available equipment resources.
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions for permanent records.
  • Coordinate design and schedules with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical).
  • Monitor project design progress and assist with addendum information.
  • Conduct periodic job site observations as required by the contract services agreement.

IMEG is hiring an Electrical Engineering Intern in Seattle, WA or the Portland/Vancouver area.

Over 10-12 weeks, you'll assist in the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings as part of a team of experienced engineers and consultants.

This is a paid internship with real project work and hands‑on exposure to building systems design.

In this role, you'll support project documentation, coordination, and design progress while working within project budgets and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations.

You'll contribute to work across hospitality, mixed‑use, and government markets, supporting high‑performance, energy‑efficient design aligned with MEP2050 and AIA2030.

What You'll Do
  • Assist with design portions of projects related to discipline systems according to code and IMEG standards
  • Assist with researching commercially available equipment resources
  • Assist with client relations, project design notebooks, and documentation for permanent record files
  • Assist with coordinating design and schedules with other disciplines, including architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers
  • Assist with documenting design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress
  • Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness prior to requesting a final check
  • Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and other services required by the contract services agreement
What You'll Bring
  • Required Education: Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Required Skills/Abilities: Strong interest in design consulting
  • Previous exposure to CAD and/or BIM software
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Preferred: Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Broad integrated MEP work with strong emphasis on multifamily housing, mixed‑use, hospitality, transit, and civic/public projects, with recurring mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and technology scope. Additional support areas include energy modeling, commissioning, telecom, security, and architectural lighting on larger coordinated efforts. The team shows particular strength in urban residential developments, mixed‑use projects, transportation and access improvements, parks, school district work, and hospitality renovations. Recent work includes Overlake East Phase I, Housing / Multi‑family, and Sound Transit Auburn Station Parking & Access Improvement, Transportation.

Pay and Benefits

State of Washington Pay Range: $22‑24 per hour

  • The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting.
  • For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.
  • Individual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.
  • Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
