Job summary

Progressive Companies offers an Electrical Engineering Intern position to collaborate with project managers and engineers on electrical system design for diverse building types. You will prepare design documents for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, security, and communications using AutoCAD and Revit.

The internship emphasizes drafting quality, building models, code compliance checks, and coordination with designers and leaders to understand project changes.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s degree program.
• At least one year of undergraduate studies completed by Summer 2027.
• Basic knowledge of sustainability and trends in the design/construction industry.
• Strong math, analytical, design and problem-solving skills, and ability to communicate well.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook; Experience in Project, SharePoint, and Teams preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the project team to help meet project schedules and budgets.
• Manage multiple projects in a timely, accurate manner, monitoring progress against project scope and available resources.
• Provide drafting services and final engineering documents consistent with Progressive’s standards.
• Assist in preparing building models, contract documents, and photometric lighting simulations consistent with Progressive Companies standards.
• Check code compliance information as it relates to the discipline and any effect it may have on other disciplines.
• Collaborate with project managers, designers, and technical leaders to understand changes to project design, scope, schedule, and budget.
• Use design software, including Revit, AutoCAD, ElumTools or Visual Lighting Software, and Easy Power, for presentation and production purposes.
