Zekelman Industries’ Atlas Tube facility in Birmingham, AL offers an on-site Electrical Engineer Intern role from May 24, 2027, to August 13, 2027. Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or related field.
• Coursework or introductory exposure to engineering, coding, PLCs, automation, electrical concepts.
• Foundational understanding of electrical engineering concepts.
• Ability to read technical diagrams or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical engineering and controls projects that improve manufacturing equipment and plant operations.
• Assist with basic electrical troubleshooting, testing, and issue resolution with engineering/maintenance teams.
• Participate in electrical panel walk-downs, wiring checks, equipment inspections and documentation updates.
• Review electrical drawings, diagrams and equipment documentation with guidance from senior staff.
• Help collect and analyze data related to equipment performance, downtime, reliability and efficiency.
• Support preventive maintenance and continuous improvement for electrical and automated systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, controls and production teams to resolve issues.
• Lead and promote safe work practices as required by regulators and company policy.
