Job summary

AEP is seeking an Electrical Engineering intern to contribute to shaping the future of energy. You will collaborate with engineers on planning, designing, and implementing ERP-related projects, and participate in design reviews and field inspections.

The role offers hands-on training, safety-focused projects, and opportunities to develop data-driven dashboards while expanding core engineering skills. A housing stipend applies for long relocations.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited).
• Must have completed freshman year.
• Graduation date December 2027 or later.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Not eligible for sponsorship, OPT or CPT.
• Willingness to relocate for the summer internship.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams and experienced engineers on planning, designing and executing enterprise resource projects.
• Engage in design reviews, trainings, knowledge-building projects and constructability assessments to uphold safety and standards.
• Participate in field visits to understand power system operations and assist in inspections and tests.
• Assist in developing and analyzing databases, reports, cost estimates and dashboards for data-driven decisions.
• Support documentation for decision-making and initiatives to improve operations and safety.
• Adhere to AEP safety guidelines in both office and field environments.
• Expand engineering skills by taking on new challenges.
