Stantec in Plano, TX seeks a motivated student intern to support electrical, mechanical, or structural design using BIM tools. You will analyze drawings, perform basic calculations, and help prepare and revise documentation under senior staff guidance.

Applicants pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with some internship exposure and strong MS Office skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Basic ability to perform calculations and apply engineering concepts.
• Exposure to BIM and drafting tools like Revit is preferred.
• Familiarity with floor plans, one-lines and details is desirable.
• Effective communication and MS Office proficiency.

Your Role

Here's what you will be doing:

• Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and related materials.
• Perform design tasks for electrical, mechanical, or structural disciplines using BIM technologies to develop 3D building models under senior staff direction.
• Conduct basic calculations and layouts to analyze and design individual building system components.
• Collaborate with project managers and technical design staff to prepare and revise drawing documentation including site plans, floor plans, elevations, building sections, details, energy models, and calculations.
• Create electronic data files compliant with Stantec and client requirements.
• Convert redlines to document-ready work.
• Publish, post, and manage drawing sets.
• Maintain drawing revisions.

About You

The company is looking for candidates who have:

• Ability to perform basic calculations and understanding of engineering concepts.
• Basic experience with modeling/drafting software such as Autodesk Revit.
• Basic experience with design software like Trane Trace or EQuest.
• Basic understanding of floor plans, one lines, and details.
• Familiarity with electrical, lighting, and technology design within the built environment preferred.
• Working knowledge of CAD MEP and Revit MEP preferred.
• Working knowledge of Building Information Modeling.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university, preferably completed junior year.
• Some related project or internship experience preferred.
