Job summary

HiArc in Merrimack, NH is seeking an Electrical Engineering Intern to support the design, development, and testing of embedded electrical hardware and firmware across active product programs. You will work closely with senior engineers and technicians, gaining hands-on experience across the full product lifecycle and contributing to real engineering challenges in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; must have completed at least 1 year.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, plus problem solving and debugging abilities.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and electronic design software (Altium preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with design, development, and integration of embedded electrical hardware and firmware under guidance of senior engineers.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation (schematics, design descriptions, test reports, performance specs).
  • Assist in preparing engineering specifications and procedures.
  • Participate in lab experiments and testing to evaluate breadboards, prototypes, and early builds.
  • Assist with cables/cable harness design and documentation for electromechanical systems.
  • Support production of engineering prototypes and evaluation.

Job Description

The Electrical Engineering Intern will support the design, development, and testing of electrical components and systems across active product development programs. Responsibilities may include assisting with circuit design, layout and documentation, performing engineering analyses, building and executing test plans, collecting and interpreting data, and documenting results to support design decisions. The intern will collaborate closely with senior engineers, cross‑functional partners, and technicians to prototype concepts, troubleshoot issues, and improve product performance. This role provides hands‑on experience with real engineering challenges, exposure to the full product development lifecycle, and the opportunity to contribute meaningful work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support the design, development, and integration of embedded electrical hardware and firmware under the guidance of senior engineers, contributing to real‑time control system products
  • Assist in creating and maintaining technical documentation such as electrical schematics, design descriptions, test reports, and performance specifications
  • Assist with preparing engineering specifications and procedures.
  • Participate in laboratory experiments and testing activities to evaluate breadboards, prototypes, and early product builds
  • Assist with the design and documentation of cables and cable harness assemblies for electromechanical systems
  • Assist with producing and evaluating engineering prototypes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering major. Must have completed at least 1 yr of the program.
Desired Qualifications
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills including written, verbal, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem solving and debugging skills.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office suite and electronic design software (Altium - preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
