Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) offers internship opportunities in Illinois that balance class schedules with meaningful, real-world projects. Interns gain hands-on experience by testing, documenting results, and learning SEL processes and hardware, while contributing to protective relays and automation workflows.

Interns work cooperatively in a team, with managers who help arrange flexible schedules during the school year.

Qualifications

• Experience in programming and scripting files.
• Practical knowledge of 3-phase power systems.
• Working knowledge of emulators and logic analyzers.
• Ability to use MS Windows and serial port terminal emulation software.
• Practical knowledge of SEL protective relays & automation controllers.
• Ability to use Microsoft Visio.
• Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
• Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
• Background check results satisfactory to SEL.
• Negative drug test result(s).
