Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an Associate Director of Electrical Engineering to lead the execution of electrical engineering across New Product Introduction (NPI) and Continuous Improvement (CI) for the company hardware product line.

You will build and guide a team of electrical engineers, ensuring technical excellence, cross-functional alignment, and scalable, high-quality hardware from development through production.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience developing complex hardware products.
• 4+ years leading engineers or technical teams.
• Deep knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals: circuit design, PCBAs, power architecture, validation, and failure analysis.
• Experience bringing high-volume hardware through NPI, manufacturing ramp, and sustaining.
• Strong cross-functional leadership with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and external partners.
• Preferred: experience with consumer electronics, wearables, or similarly integrated hardware products.
• Strong commitment to leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks with high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Lead, build, and develop the Electrical Engineering team for NPI and CI across the product line; establish ownership and accountability.
• Own EE execution across the full product lifecycle from concept to sustaining.
• Set technical direction and drive engineering excellence across architecture, design reviews, validation, and failure analysis.
• Lead the EE team through milestones, identifying risks and ensuring rigorous resolution.
• Partner with Mechanical, Firmware, Systems, Battery, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Product teams to meet requirements.
• Build a high-performing EE organization by hiring and developing engineers and enabling resources.
• Establish and continuously improve EE processes, tools, documentation, and development practices.
