Job summary

Nexteer Automotive seeks a Student Co-op in Saginaw, MI. This position supports the design, testing activities of the Power Pack Architecture and Core team, giving students hands-on engineering exposure in a real lab.

You will acquire, build, and test prototype parts, perform electrical tests, and operate lab equipment, while developing circuit design and analysis skills in a team environment.

Qualifications

• Enrolment in a 2- or 4-year college near Saginaw.
• Pursuing Bachelor's in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Available to work 20–32 hours during Fall/Winter; up to 40 in Summer.
• Cumulative GPA 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.
• Full-time student (12+ credits) during Fall and Winter semesters.
• Interest in Electronics and Circuit design; knowledge of EE principles.

Responsibilities

• Acquire, build, and test prototype parts including motors, sensors, controllers, boards.
• Perform electrical tests involving motors, sensors, controllers, etc.
• Operate lab equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
• Circuit schematic capture and updates.
• Assist engineers with project duties.
• Develop electrical design skills for circuit/schematic analysis.

This is a Student Co-op position located in Saginaw, MI. This position supports the design, and testing activities of the Power Pack Architecture and Core team.

Job Activities:

• Acquire, build, and test prototype parts including electric motors, sensors, controllers, circuit boards and wire harnesses
• Perform electrical tests involving any combination of electric motors, sensor, controllers, etc.
• Operate lab equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, and multimeters
• Circuit schematic capture and updates
• Assisting engineers with project duties
• Develop electrical design skills that aid in circuit/schematic analysis

Requirements:

• Candidate must be attending a 2-year college or 4-year university local to Saginaw
• Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor’s in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• Candidate must be able to work 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
• Up to 40 in the summer
• Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
• Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
• Candidate must have an interest in Electronics and Circuit design.
• Candidate must have growing knowledge and application of Electrical Engineering principles
• Candidate must have strong mathematical and analytic ability
• Candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Products (Office 365, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
• Candidate must have excellent Communication, Documentation Skills and attention to detail
• Candidate must have an understanding of typical electrical bench equipment (Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, Multimeters, Soldering Equipment etc)
• Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
