Job summary

Inspired Flight, based in San Luis Obispo, CA, is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to design embedded systems for our drone platforms. You’ll develop low- and high-power sub-assemblies, create PCBA schematics, and debug firmware as part of a growing UAV engineering team.

Ideal candidates have a BS in engineering and up to 2–5 years of experience (level 2) or 0–2 years (level 1). DOE salary ranges are offered, plus strong benefits and an opportunity to contribute to American drone

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent discipline.
• 0-2 years experience for level 1.
• 2-5 years experience for level 2.
• Experience in a related field, preferably: UAS, aviation, aerospace, robotics, autonomy or defense industry.

Responsibilities

• Design low power electrical sub-assemblies responsible for system control, environment sensing, networking, safety checks, etc.
• Design high power electrical sub-assemblies responsible for safe and reliable propulsion.
• Create PCBA schematics and layouts using ECAD software.
• Develop and debug open source firmware and software.
• Closed loop control system (PID) tuning for flight optimization.
• Troubleshoot system failures or shortcomings.
• Plan and execute bench and flight tests to validate electrical designs.
• Implement design best practices such as DFM, testability, modularity, and secure part sourcing.
