Job summary

Inspired Flight, headquartered in San Luis Obispo, CA, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, prototype and validate complex hardware systems for UAV platforms. This in-office role sits at the core of a rapidly growing company and collaborates with cross-functional teams across design, manufacturing and QA.

Ideal candidates have a degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering and up to 5 years of related experience, with proficiency in CAD tools and FEA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace engineering or equivalent.
• 0–2 years experience for level 1; 2–5 years for level 2.
• Experience in UAS, aviation, aerospace, robotics, autonomy or defense is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze and test mechanical systems and components to meet project requirements.
• Develop and implement engineering solutions to improve product performance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing and QA to complete projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for proposed designs.
• Prepare drawings, specifications and technical reports.
• Support manufacturing and assembly processes with technical guidance.
• Keep abreast of industry trends and engineering advances.
