Job summary

The Boring Company seeks an Electrical/Automation Engineer to contribute to control systems for tunneling projects. You will design, troubleshoot, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

You will work on PLCs, motor controls and sensors, supporting system-level integration and installations while ensuring safety and reliability across electrical and civil engineering interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in electrical engineering, industrial automation, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience in electrical/controls engineering or related field.
• Experience designing, developing and integrating control and automation systems.
• Experience in sensor selection and redundancy requirements.
• Experience working with PLCs and motor controls (VFDs).
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Jump between the system and component level for tunnel, automation, lighting, power, and maintenance facilities applications.
• Design, develop and integrate simple and complex control systems for electrical, mechanical, and fluid power systems.
• Troubleshooting and problem solving of equipment such as tunnel boring machines and vehicles.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to improve electrical systems with mechanical structures and software.
• Oversee and inspect installations and retrofits to meet design specs.
• Interface with utilities and contractors for electrical service upgrades and installs.
• Assist in selection, developing specifications and procurement of electrical equipment.
