Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is expanding its Magnetics Engineering team to design, prototype, qualify, and release transformers and related magnetic components. The Electrical Engineer will collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and Magnetics teams to develop transformer designs, qualification methods, and advanced test solutions, defining performance requirements and improving processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Typically 6+ years of experience in transformer/inductor or related design.
  • Experience with analogue and digital design and power supply design.
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation and signal integrity tools.
  • Proficiency in engineering analysis using MATLAB, Python, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and validate magnetic components and circuits; lead hardware design reviews.
  • Develop and review test plans; oversee testing and document results.
  • Maintain accurate project plans and labor estimates; manage moderate hardware projects.
  • Mentor associate engineers and technicians; coordinate with sourcing and manufacturing.
  • Apply SEL values and manufacturing principles to all work.
