Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design, prototype, qualify, and release transformers and magnetic components.

You will collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing, and Magnetics Engineering teams to develop transformer designs, qualification methods, and advanced test solutions. You will help define transformer performance requirements, influence design decisions, and improve engineering processes, tools, and test capabilities to increase

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; or equivalent experience.
• Typically 6+ years in at least 2 of: transformer/inductor/coiled component design; analog circuit design and simulation; digital design with microprocessors or programmable logic; power supply design; statistical analysis using JMP or similar; EM field simulation (Ansys) or timing/signal integrity analysis; engineering analysis using Mathcad, MATLAB, or Python.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor others
• Strong written, verbal, and technical documentation skills
• Ability to learn new technologies and assume new responsibilities
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
• Background check satisfactory to SEL
• Negative drug test result(s)

Responsibilities

• Design, analyze, and validate magnetic components and electronic circuits; lead hardware design reviews.
• Leads in development of magnetic components, hardware and system level specs.
• Develop and review test plans; execute or oversee testing; document findings.
• Develop and maintain accurate project plans, schedules, and labor estimates.
• Coordinate engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing; mentor engineers.
• Follow SEL Values and World Class Manufacturing principles in work activities.
