Job summary

Responsibilities

• Support all phases of the system lifecycle from concept to retirement
• Root cause analysis of system/component issues and failures
• Review ship drawings for system integration and drafting of assemblies
• 2D/3D modeling and drafting of electrical and mechanical assemblies
• Prototyping and inspection of materials
• Support technical data package development (TDP) including TEMPALT
• Prepare letters and process flow checklists
• Ship check and fit checks for submarines
• Support system testing and documentation including EMI/EMC and cybersecurity
• Assist fleet troubleshooting and DFS creation
• Engage with Agile project management and systems engineering processes
• Identify and remove workflow obstacles

Responsibilities

• Support all phases of the system lifecycle, from concept to retirement
• Root cause analysis of system/component issues and/or failure
• Researching and reviewing ship's structural and electrical drawings to support system integration
• 2D and 3D modeling design and drafting of mechanical and electrical assemblies
• Prototyping
• Inspection and acceptance of material received from procurement or fabrication
• Factory acceptance testing
• Support all aspects of technical data package (TDP) development (i.e., Temporary Alterations = TEMPALT)
• Draft forwarding letters and process flow checklists
• Ship check and fit check of submarines
• Support all aspects of system testing and documentation, including but not limited to:
  • electromagnetic interference (EMI)/electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
  • cybersecurity/information assurance
• Support fleet troubleshooting efforts
• Support the creation of departures from specification (DFS)
• Engage with traditional and Agile project management processes and systems engineering processes
• Identify and remove obstacles in the workflow
• Support with presentations and briefs to stakeholders

Qualifications

• Have an active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance (US Citizenship).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Electrical Engineering related to submarine system development, system integration, or alteration development.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, Linux, C/C++
• Intermediate/Advanced in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal and listening skills; Team player
• Ability to meet deadlines on assigned tasks and responsibilities
• Multi-task oriented and capable of prioritizing.

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $95,000.00/Yr. - USD $120,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
