Job summary

Forj Medical is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and test power electronics and embedded medical device systems. You will work across functions to take products from concept to production, often as a technical lead and mentor to junior engineers.

You will contribute to system architecture, hardware verification, and regulatory compliance, including EMC and IEC 60601-1, while collaborating with suppliers to deliver robust, production-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
• 6–9 years of experience with a BS; 3–6 years with an MS.
• Experience in power electronics, including converters and power management.
• Experience taking products from concept through production.
• Strong PCB design, embedded systems, and hardware verification testing.
• Excellent documentation and technical leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop power electronics systems, including AC/DC and DC/DC converters.
• Translate customer and system requirements into electrical designs.
• Prototype, test, and troubleshoot power conversion circuits.
• Design magnetic components and collaborate with suppliers.
• Perform analog/digital circuit design, PCB development, and hardware verification.
• Develop system-level architectures for new products.
• Lead design reviews, risk analysis, and project planning.
• Prepare design specifications, documentation, and test procedures.
• Support regulatory testing (EMC/IEC 60601-1) and design transfers.

Job Summary

Senior Electrical Engineers apply Forj Medical Standard Operating Procedures and advanced electrical engineering knowledge to design, develop, and test power electronics and embedded medical device systems. They work cross-functionally to bring products from concept through development and into production.

Senior Electrical Engineers work with minimal technical supervision and serve as key contributors on projects of moderate to high complexity. They may act as technical leads, provide mentorship to junior engineers, and serve as subject matter experts in power electronics design.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and develop power electronics systems, including AC/DC and DC/DC power converters.
• Translate customer and system requirements into electrical and power converter designs.
• Design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot power conversion circuits and associated control systems.
• Design magnetic components and collaborate with suppliers to develop production-ready solutions.
• Perform analog and digital circuit design, PCB development, and hardware verification testing.
• Develop, test, and debug system-level architectures for new products.
• Participate in requirements definition, project planning, design reviews, and risk analysis.
• Prepare design specifications, technical documentation, and test procedures.
• Support regulatory and compliance testing, including EMC and IEC 60601-1 standards.
• Lead evaluation of design alternatives and provide technical input for project planning and proposals.
• Support design transfer, process improvement initiatives, and quality system compliance.
• Interface with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers and technicians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
• 6-9 years of experience with a BS degree or 3-6 years with an MS degree.
• Strong background in power electronics, including power converters, power management, and analog circuit design.
• Experience designing and testing power conversion circuits and magnetic components.
• Experience taking products from concept through production.
• Strong understanding of PCB design, embedded systems, and hardware verification testing.
• Proficient at solving complex engineering problems and developing practical solutions.
• Excellent documentation, communication, and technical leadership skills.
• Medical device experience preferred but not required.
