As a Senior Electrical Engineer I with our Seaborne Sensors & Systems team, you’ll help design and deliver advanced electrical and electronic systems that support critical maritime and defense missions. You’ll work on technology designed to perform in demanding environments, where reliability, performance, and innovation are essential to mission success.

You’ll take ownership of electrical engineering activities across the product lifecycle—from concept and design through integration, testing, qualification, and production. You’ll solve complex engineering challenges, develop practical solutions, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to turn technical requirements into reliable, mission-ready systems.

Job Description
What You’ll Do
  • Design, develop, analyze, integrate, and test electrical and electronic systems supporting seaborne sensors and mission systems.
  • Apply electrical engineering principles and analysis to solve complex technical challenges and develop innovative solutions.
  • Contribute to system architecture, detailed design, circuit development, hardware integration, verification, and qualification activities.
  • Work closely with systems, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and test engineers to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, environmental, and customer requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and electronic issues, perform root-cause analysis, and drive solutions from investigation through implementation.
  • Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports, schematics, specifications, and other design deliverables.
  • Present technical work and recommendations during peer, technical, and formal design reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers and contribute to the growth of the engineering team.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, tools, and engineering approaches that can improve product performance, reliability, and capability.
  • Support engineering estimates, work-package planning, technical risk identification, and project execution.
  • Support integration, testing, and troubleshooting in laboratory, production, and field environments.
  • Ensure engineering solutions meet applicable safety, environmental, quality, regulatory, and customer requirements.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in electrical/electronic engineering within a complex product development environment.
  • Experience designing, analyzing, integrating, or testing electrical or electronic systems.
  • Ability to independently solve complex engineering problems and make sound technical decisions.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience documenting and presenting technical work to engineering and program stakeholders.
What Will Set You Apart
  • Experience with sensors, embedded electronics, instrumentation, communications, power systems, or other mission-critical electronic systems.
  • Experience designing or developing technology for maritime, subsea, naval, aerospace, or other demanding environments.
  • Experience taking hardware from concept and design through integration, qualification, and production.
  • Experience with environmental, reliability, or qualification testing.
  • Experience working in a defense, aerospace, or other highly regulated engineering environment.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required
Expected Compensation

The expected compensation range for this role is $110,552.00 - $138,112.00.

Please note this represents the expected range. Ultra Maritime considers multiple factors when determining final compensation, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, a candidate’s relevant experience and education, certifications and training, as well as current business and market conditions.
