Job summary

Ignite Digital is seeking a mid/senior-level electrical engineer to support Government clients with power system design, fabrication, testing and evaluation in Charleston, SC. You will own the technical design and decisions related to electrical and power systems across the TIDE platform, collaborating with mechanical and system engineers.

The role emphasizes rapid prototyping, hands-on fabrication, and modular sensing payloads, with a 50/30/20 split of design/fabrication/testing and

Qualifications

6–10 years experience in a systems electrical engineering role.
Experience designing and testing AC and DC power systems.
Experience with power conversion (AC/DC, DC/DC, inverters, rectifiers).
Hands-on hardware design, prototyping and lab validation.
Experience with Altium or equivalent PCB design software.
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, MS Projects.

Responsibilities

Position breakdown: 50% design, 30% fabrication, 20% testing.
Lead end-to-end power generation systems design and development (battery, solar, alternative sources).
Define system requirements for power generation, distribution, and management.
Develop and execute test plans for validating system performance and reliability.
Hands-on experience with building and integrating hardware components and embedded systems.
Lead design and construction of custom RF and sensing packages for modular buoy platform.
Analyze and resolve complex electrical system issues.
Assist with defining system interfaces and APIs across applications.
Perform trade-off analyses on power, weight and sensor package requirements.
Evaluate modularity and interoperability between platforms.
