Job summary

Primoris Services Corporation in Houston, TX is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to contribute to the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems for diverse infrastructure projects.

The role applies engineering principles to ensure safe operation of power distribution and control systems, performs load and coordination calculations, and collaborates with civil, mechanical, and structural teams across project stages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 3–5 years of electrical engineering experience in heavy civil, industrial, or utilities sectors.
• Proficiency with design software AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, and SKM PowerTools.
• Strong NEC knowledge and ability to read blueprints and technical specs.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• PE license or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test electrical systems and components for power generation, transmission, and distribution.
• Prepare detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment specifications.
• Perform load, voltage drop, short circuit, and protective device coordination calculations.
• Conduct site visits to gather information and oversee installation and commissioning.
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and structural engineers to integrate designs.
• Develop and implement testing procedures for electrical equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot issues and provide solutions during project execution and post-completion.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, safety regs, and environmental standards.
• Prepare technical reports, project documentation, and cost estimates.
• Stay updated on new technologies and best practices.
