Job summary

United Rentals is seeking an Electrical Engineer for the Power & HVAC division. You will design site-specific electrical plans, create diagrams, and assess conditions to propose equipment solutions that meet NEC and OSHA standards.

Collaborate with sales and field teams to deliver reliable, compliant engineering outcomes. The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 2+ years' experience, and familiarity with diesel generators and NFPA 70E.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience as a degreed electrical engineer.
• EIT/EI certification or eligibility is a plus.
• Solid understanding of electrical design principles and industry standards.
• Familiarity with power generation systems, especially diesel generators.
• Knowledge of arc flash safety standards (NFPA 70E).
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SKM, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and clients.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical system plans for site-specific projects.
• Create one-line diagrams, methods of procedure (MOPs), arc flash studies, and plot plans.
• Evaluate site conditions and recommend suitable equipment solutions.
• Ensure all designs comply with engineering standards, NEC, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot field installation issues and provide practical resolutions.
• Offer technical guidance and engineering support to our Power & HVAC sales team.
• Deliver virtual and in-person technical training for technicians.
• Review proposals for technical accuracy and feasibility.
• Support additional projects and responsibilities as needed.
