Job summary

Solar Connection is seeking an Electrical Engineer, PE to provide technical leadership and oversight for electrical designs. The role focuses on safe, efficient systems compliant with codes, with responsibility for designs under their seal.

The ideal candidate has a PE license in Minnesota, NABCEP PV Associate, and 5+ years in electrical engineering, including project management and construction oversight. The position is on-site in Rochester, MN, with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Minnesota required.
  • Wisconsin and Iowa licensure, or ability to obtain licensure through comity/reciprocity, preferred.
  • NABCEP certification, PV Associate minimum.
  • 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience including system design, project management, and construction oversight.
  • Certifications in electrical safety or project management are desired.
  • Knowledge of NEC and software tools such as AutoCAD, Helioscope, GIS, and PVSyst.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, leadership, problem-solving, and client service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review solar system designs including single-line drawings, three-line diagrams, site plans, mechanical racking and attachment plans, interconnection details and BOS specifications.
  • Seal engineering documents in accordance with state licensing requirements and serve as Engineer of Record on designated projects.
  • Oversee high-quality system design documentation using AutoCAD, GIS software, Helioscope, Scanifly, PVSyst models product specifications, and commissioning plan.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, industry standards, and client requirements.
  • Advise clients on technical options, budgets, and project decisions, ensuring solutions meet both functional and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with design, development, testing, and supervision of electrical systems across residential and commercial projects.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies to ensure timely delivery and adherence to client specifications.
  • Support project schedules, budgets, and resources.
  • Prepare technical reports, schematics, and presentations for stakeholders while maintaining clear communication throughout project lifecycles.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering staff, supervise technical staff, and promote professional development within the team.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Electrical Engineer, PE will provide technical leadership, engineering review, analysis, and professional oversight for electrical designs. This position works closely with the design team and management to ensure electrical systems are safe, efficient, and compliant with applicable codes, standards, and requirements. This position assumes professional responsibility for designs under their seal.

BENEFITS

Starting wage $120,000 - $125,000/annually depending on experience. Retirement program including profit sharing. Medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance. Paid vacation, sick, and holidays available immediately.

Position Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  2. Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Minnesota required. Wisconsin and Iowa licensure, or the ability to obtain licensure through comity/reciprocity, preferred.
  3. NABCEP certification, PV Associate minimum
