Hazen & Sawyer in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to design electrical systems for water and wastewater facilities. You will act as lead electrical engineer on select projects and coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet scope, schedule, and budget.

The role requires a BS in Electrical Engineering, 5–14 years of relevant experience, and PE licensure. You will use AutoCAD/Revit, SKM/ETAP, and collaborate with clients and contractors to deliver reliable

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–14 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial electrical engineering and design.
• Licensed as a registered professional engineer in at least one U.S. state.
• Ability to be licensed in additional states at the request of the firm.
• Experience with SKM or ETAP power system software.
• Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit BIM software.
• Experience in Microsoft Office products.
• Strong communication skills allowing for successful interaction with clients, contractors, and other engineers.

Responsibilities

• Power systems design for water and wastewater facilities, including medium and low voltage distribution, generator design, motor controls, and lighting.
• Prepare project specifications and edit electrical master specs as needed.
• Lead electrical engineer on multiple concurrent projects with scope, schedule, and budget in mind.
• Perform site visits from design through construction.
• Design in AutoCAD and/or Revit as required by the project.
• Perform power system studies in SKM and/or ETAP.
• Conduct construction administration tasks and review RFIs/COs.
• Witness testing of electrical equipment and support start-up activities.
• Represent electrical in client meetings and coordinate with other disciplines.
• Mentor less experienced electrical staff and support BD activities.

Hazen & Sawyer is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer for our Virginia Beach, VA office. Candidate will provide electrical engineering and design for water and wastewater facility projects, serving as lead electrical engineer when required. Candidate will support projects both local to and regional to the office, as well as supporting projects in other areas as requested by the firm.

Key Responsibilities

• Power systems design, including medium and low voltage electrical power distribution, generator design, motor controls, VFDs, lighting systems, equipment layout and related activities at water and wastewater facilities


• Prepare project specifications and edit corporate electrical master specifications as needed to suit each project


• Serve as the lead electrical engineer on multiple concurrent projects. Ensure the work is performed in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget


• Perform site visits as needed from project conceptual design through construction


• Perform electrical design work in AutoCAD and/or Revit as required by the project


• Perform electrical power system studies in SKM and/or ETAP as required by the project


• Complete construction administration tasks including review of shop drawings, replies to requests for information, change order requests and similar tasks


• Perform factory witness testing of electrical equipment as required by the project


• Monitor and participate in the field testing and start-up of electrical systems


• Represent the electrical discipline in client project meetings


• Interaction with clients, contractors, and engineers from other disciplines


• Serve as a technical mentor for less experienced electrical staff


• Assist in business development activities such as proposal preparation


• Develop scope and fee documents for electrical portions of projects


• Fill the role of Project Manager for selected electrical projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering


• 5-14 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial electrical engineering and design

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Bluebeam software and Bluebeam Studio
