Job summary

Optikos is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design, develop, test, and support electronics for metrology products and consulting work. You will handle schematic capture, PCB layout, troubleshooting, and documentation while collaborating with mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical design including schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Proficiency with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting analog and digital circuits.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and microcontroller-based designs.
• Ability to work independently while effectively communicating progress and issues to stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Enthusiastic, self-motivated, and eager to learn new technologies and processes.
• Preferred: Working knowledge of at least one high-level programming language (e.g., Python or MATLAB).
• Preferred: Experience with HDL (Verilog or VHDL); Embedded software development (C/C++); High-speed protocols; EMC/EMI techniques.

Responsibilities

• Create and own schematics, layouts, bring-up, and testing for circuit boards used in optical metrology systems.
• Assist with the development and implementation of electrical control architectures for new and existing products.
• Maintain configuration control of circuit board designs and related documentation.
• Test, troubleshoot, and validate circuit boards and electrical subsystems.
• Support cable harness design and collaborate with mechanical engineers on integration drawings.
• Provide technical support to Production regarding electronics integration and assembly best practices.
• Prepare engineering documentation, including design records, test procedures, and work instructions.
• Participate in regulatory and CE marking activities as required.
• Interface with suppliers, manufacturing personnel, and other internal stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
