Job summary

RTX is seeking a motivated Computer or Electrical Engineering student to join our Applied Research and Technology team in Cedar Rapids. As an FPGA Electrical Engineer Intern, you will contribute to RTL design, verification, and integration of ASIC/FPGA components.

You will learn from experienced engineers, work with tools like Modelsim, Quartus, and Vivado, and support requirements capture, architecture, and system integration on defense-focused projects.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and enrolled through internship.
  • Experience with RTL coding and simulation in VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet aggressive milestones.

Collins Aerospace isseekingamotivatedand innovative Computer or Electrical Engineering student to join our Applied Research and Technology (ART) Microelectronics Technology team.Your work will contribute to the development ofcutting-edgedefense solutions across Mission Systems,leveragingyourskillsin the design, implementation, verification, and integration of a wide variety of high-performance digital FPGAs & ASICs.

What You Will Do:

  • As an FPGA Electrical Engineer Intern at Collins Aerospace,
  • You will support requirements capture and ASIC / FPGA digital architecture.
  • You will implement ASIC / FPGA digital design using RTL.
  • You will support verification and system integration of ASIC / FPGA implementations.

What You Will Learn:

  • You will work with an experienced team to learn best practices and Collins’ engineering processes for implementing world class ASIC / FPGA solutions.
  • You will get to work with cutting edge technologies developed both in house and by external vendors.
  • You will learn how ASICs and FPGAs are used to implement solutions utilized in communications, security, and space-based products.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship.
  • Experience with RTL coding and simulation in VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, team with engineers of a variety of skills and backgrounds, and matrix into projects with aggressive schedules and frequent milestones.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience using ASIC and/or FPGA design tools (e.g. Modelsim, Quartus, Vivado or other FPGA-specific tools).
  • Experience with debugging and root cause investigations on hardware using hardware schematics, integrated FPGA vendor debug tools, and digital lab equipment.
  • Digital circuit architecture and resource tradeoffs.
  • Some background in signal processing and/or information assurance.
  • Familiarity with the signal processing system simulation & analysis tools (e.g. Matlab, Simulink).
  • Familiarity with revision control concepts and tools (e.g. Git, Subversion).

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
