Job summary

CMTA, a Legence Company, is an engineering firm focused on sustainable, high‑performance building systems. This is a full‑time, on‑site co‑op position in the Columbus office, starting around August 2026 and running through Fall 2026 with dates flexible to the school calendar.

As a co‑op electrical design engineer, you will gain hands‑on training in power, lighting, controls and fire alarm systems for new construction and renovations, and you will help produce detailed layouts, one‑line diagrams

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or architectural engineering, preferably sophomore or junior year.
  • Strong interest in building systems electrical engineering.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Availability to work full time in the Columbus office during the co-op term.
  • Willingness to travel locally for job site inspections and field work.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply electrical system fundamentals for new constructions and renovations.
  • Produce detailed electrical system layouts and equipment detail drawings.
  • Create one‑line diagrams and schematics.
  • Assist in data collection and site verification activities.

Job Description

This is a full‑time, on‑site co‑op position (40 hrs./week), expected to start around August 2026 and continue through Fall 2026 with dates flexible around the school calendar. The role offers competitive hourly pay and overtime eligibility, with potential for multiple rotations and future full‑time employment.

As a co‑op electrical design engineer, you will receive hands‑on training in electrical systems and infrastructure, learning how to design and implement power, lighting, controls, and fire alarm systems for new construction and renovation projects. You will work closely with senior engineers and contribute to detailed layout drawings, one‑line diagrams, and project documentation.

Job Functions
