Job summary

CMTA, a Legence Company, is offering a full‑time onsite co‑op for college students in Mechanical, Electrical, and Architectural Engineering in Prospect, KY. The program begins around August 2026 and runs through Fall 2026, with dates flexible to fit the school calendar.

The role provides hands-on training in electrical design for new construction and renovation projects. You will learn to design and implement electrical systems, lighting and controls, and fire alarm systems, and support the team

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in electrical or architectural engineering, preferably sophomore or junior year.
  • Strong interest in Building Systems Electrical Engineering.
  • Full-time availability in the Columbus office throughout the co-op term.
  • Willingness to travel locally for job-site inspections and field work.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and implement electrical system basics such as power, distribution, lighting and fire alarm systems.
  • Produce detailed layout and equipment details of electrical systems.
  • Create one-line diagrams and schematics.
  • Assist the design team in assembling organized sets of drawings.
  • Assist in data collection and field verification.
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers to develop all aspects of a project.

CMTA, a Legence Company, is one of the fastest growing engineering firms in the U.S., focusing on sustainable, high-performance building engineering. We offer a full‑time (40 hrs/week) onsite co‑op position for college students in Mechanical, Electrical, and Architectural Engineering. The role starts around August 2026 and runs through Fall 2026, with dates flexible to fit the school calendar. Co‑ops will receive hands‑on training in electrical design and be eligible for overtime pay. The position may lead to multiple rotations and potential full‑time employment after graduation.

Job Description

Job Functions

Requirements

  • AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Full‑time availability in the Columbus office throughout the co‑op term.
  • Willingness to travel locally for job‑site inspections and field work.
