Koch Fertilizer in Dodge City, Kansas invites qualified students to join our Engineering team as a 2027 Summer Electrical Engineer Intern. The 12-week program runs from late May to mid-August 2027 and offers hands-on experience in industrial electrical systems.

You will assist with troubleshooting motors and control panels, support maintenance programs, and help evaluate equipment upgrades. Eligible students pursuing Electrical Engineering or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with troubleshooting plant electrical equipment: motors, drives, analyzers, control panels, power distribution, transmitters.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs: inspect, test, and document electrical systems.
  • Help evaluate and specify new electrical equipment, instrumentation, and system upgrades: prepare data sheets, one-line diagrams, and cost estimates.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and troubleshooting efforts to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.

Ko​ch Fertilizer is looking for a 2027 Summer Electrical Engineer Intern to join our Engineering team in Dodge City, Kansas. The internship opportunity will be a 12-week program running from late May to mid-August 2027.

What You Will Do
  • Assist with troubleshooting plant electrical equipment: motors, drives, analyzers, control panels, power distribution, and transmitters
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs: inspect, test, and document electrical systems
  • Help evaluate and specify new electrical equipment, instrumentation, and system upgrades: prepare data sheets, one-line diagrams, and cost estimates
  • Contribute to risk assessments, root cause analyses, and troubleshooting efforts to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb straight ladders. Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet.
  • Wearing industrial chemical plant uniforms and PPE as required.
  • Confined space entry may be required.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Currently enrolled in a relevant degree or certificate, such as Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Mechanical Engineering or other related field.
  • Eligible for full-time employment before or by May 2028
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship
  • Willing and able to meet all physical requirements
