Koch Fertilizer in Beatrice, Nebraska invites a 2027 Summer Electrical Engineer Intern to join our Engineering team for a 12-week program from late May to mid-August 2027.

You will assist with troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation equipment, support maintenance programs, and help prepare diagrams and data sheets.

This internship offers real project experience and exposure to capital projects within a leading fertilizer company.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or related program.
  • Eligible for full-time employment by May 2028.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with troubleshooting plant electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs and documentation.
  • Help prepare data sheets, one-line diagrams, and cost estimates for upgrades.
  • Collaborate on capital improvement and reliability projects and participate in design reviews.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and root-cause analyses to improve reliability.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to teams.

Koch Fertilizeris looking for a 2027 Summer Electrical Engineer Intern to join our Engineering team in Beatrice, Nebraska. The internship opportunity will be a 12-week program running from late May to mid-August 2027.

What You Will Do
  • Assist with troubleshooting plant electrical and instrumentation equipment: motors, drives, analyzers,control panels, power distribution, and transmitters
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs: inspect, test, and document electrical and instrumentation systems
  • Help evaluate and specify new electrical equipment, instrumentation, and system upgrades: prepare data sheets, one-line diagrams, and cost estimates
  • Collaborate on capital improvement and reliability projects: participate in design reviews and vendor discussions
  • Contribute to risk assessments, root cause analyses, and troubleshooting efforts to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to the engineering and operations teams
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb straight ladders. Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet.
  • Wearing industrial chemical plant uniforms and PPE as required.
  • Confined space entry may be required.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Currently enrolled in a relevant degree or certificate, such as Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or other related field.
  • Eligible for full-time employment before or by May 2028
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship
  • Willing and able to meet all physical requirements
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical equipment, engines, rotating equipment, or maintenance systems
  • Demonstrated involvement in engineering design teams, student organizations, or hands-on mechanical projects
