Base pay range

$70,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr

Akkodis is seeking a Electrical Instrumentation & Controls Engineer for a full-time position with our onsite team near Louisville, KY. This role is a direct hands-on instrumentation & controls opportunity that is within the shop floor performing tasks such as timing/adjusting sensors, changing out I&C, resizing & recalibrating controls & sensors, wiring, installing new hardware. Some PLC work is involved though it's very limited in nature.

Starting Pay Range: $70,000 to $80,000/yr (pay commensurate based on experience, education, geographic locations, and other factors). Relocation assistance is NOT available for this role.

Electrical Instrumentation & Controls Engineer job responsibilities include:

  • Develop, design, implement, upgrade, commission, and certify instrumentation and data acquisition for component and/or whole product evaluation, performance, or compliance testing
  • Current instrumentation for AP1, 2 and 3 use LabView for regulatory testing. Will need to update procedures as required for updates to the test standard or LabView.
  • Will also support installation and configuration of OEM software such as Yokogawa GP or DewesoftX.
  • Will need to become familiar with test standards such as IEC standby power and harmonics
  • Will need to become familiar with programming of environmental test chambers
  • Will need to work with Digital Technology team to setup IP addresses and Ports for lab computers and also to enable monitored remote viewing by OEM on lab computers
  • Also support integration with AppleCore with units under test.
  • May require updating Visual Basic macros used for data analysis and reports or converting macros into C++ or similar code.
  • Setup new computers with lab instrumentation software and work with DT to ensure automatic updates/reboot are disables.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and 2+ years professional experience OR a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering and1+ year professional experience in the procurement, testing, installation of instrumentation and controls is ideal.
  • Experience programming in Python, LabView, VEE or C++ for data acquisition and control of instruments
  • Ability to work in large cross-functional teams and at multiple levels in the organization (both salaried and skilled trades team members)
  • Good organizational, project management and presentation skills to interact with all levels within the organization and with suppliers and vendors
  • Prior experience industrial process instrumentation and controls including pressure regulators, flow meters, dampers & flow control valves, safety shut off valves, sealed systems, and humidity generators.
  • Knowledge/experience with all type of instrumentation and transducers
  • Knowledge/experience in single and three phase electrical distribution systems up to 480V
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other building code standards
  • Proficient in CAD design software such as AutoCAD
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
