Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Industrial Business Unit. You will design and deliver complex substation and industrial projects, ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency of power systems. This hybrid role can be based in one of CDM Smith’s offices, with collaboration across the firm.

Travel up to 10% may be required. Bachelor's degree in electrical field and 3 years of experience are typical; opportunities to mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Electrical Technology or related discipline.
• 3 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Create basic to moderately complex designs of electric master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems.
• Conduct studies and electrical calculations for power systems, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm systems, security systems.
• Develop white papers and technical documentation to support knowledge management and publish designs in journals.
• Update design requirements as necessary.
• Attend conferences and symposia to improve visibility of firm’s products and services.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Mentor junior team members through technical guidance and reviews.
