Overview

The Electrical Engineer III provides technical solutions to complex engineering problems requiring a comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles. Working under general direction, this role independently develops design approaches, performs verification and testing, and collaborates across disciplines to ensure product capability, manufacturability, and system-level performance.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electronic hardware, circuits, and assemblies from concept through verification.
  • Perform product testing and create models and prototypes to support development and validation.
  • Develop and document electronic schematics and related technical documentation.
  • Create and execute verification and validation plans for electronic assemblies and circuit boards.
  • Develop hardware bring-up procedures for prototype and production boards, including functional checkout and debug.
  • Investigate hardware anomalies and support corrective actions.
  • Support manufacturing, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical and electronic systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to enhance product capability and manufacturability.
  • Provide technical guidance or training to junior staff as needed.
  • Travel as required to support customer meetings, integration, and testing activities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • BS with 5–7 years, MS with 3–5 years, or PhD with 0–2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience designing electronic hardware including requirements, architecture, schematics, component selection, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience developing verification and validation plans and executing test campaigns for electronic hardware.
  • Proficiency in high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuit design.
  • Experience with communication interfaces including I2C, SPI, UART, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, and CAN.
  • Hands‑on experience with prototype development, debugging, and board bring‑up.
  • Experience generating engineering documentation including ICDs, ECOs, analyses, procedures, and test reports.
  • Familiarity with PCB layout and wire harness design considerations.
  • Experience supporting hardware verification, qualification, and anomaly resolution.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment while independently completing technical tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel periodically for meetings, integration, and testing.
  • Experience working with flight hardware handling requirements such as ESD controls and cleanroom operations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience designing spacecraft, payload, avionics, or aerospace electronics.
  • Understanding of spacecraft electrical architectures, including power distribution and telemetry systems.
  • Experience with spaceflight hardware Assembly, Integration, and Test (AI&T).
  • Experience developing or supporting EGSE, simulators, or spacecraft command and control systems.
  • Experience with RF communication systems and antenna integration.
  • Knowledge of battery-powered systems including charging and safety.
  • Familiarity with embedded firmware development in C.
  • Experience with SPICE, worst‑case, reliability, or radiation effects analysis.
  • Experience creating test automation or analysis scripts using Python or MATLAB.
  • Experience supporting hardware from design reviews through environmental testing and flight qualification.

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
