Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to design, simulate, and integrate electronic systems for small unmanned aircraft. You will work with avionics, embedded processing, and RF links, performing circuit design and board development from concept through tests.

The role requires a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, 2–5 years of relevant experience, and proficiency in Altium Designer. Travel up to 30% for flight tests may be required; a clean driving record is essential.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required or equivalent
• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience
• Experience using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
• Experience in RF, embedded control, or FPGA
• Experience with power electronics including motors and lithium batteries
• Ability to troubleshoot complex systems
• Familiarity with LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, USB protocols
• Strong fundamentals in engineering, math, physics and materials
• Some travel up to 30% for flight tests
• Clean driving record

Responsibilities

• Performs simulation and detailed design for digital and analog circuits
• Drives system integration, assembly procedures, and test procedures
• Documents designs with engineering drawings and written descriptions
• Troubleshoots complex systems from hardware and software perspectives
• Designs, builds, and tests prototypes with avionics, embedded systems, and RF links
• Writes software to support sensor and embedded processor integration
• Designs and implements circuit boards including architecture, layout, bring-up and documentation
• Provides EDR&D support activities and fabrication/test procedure development
• Works on problems of moderate scope requiring analysis of multiple factors
• Other duties as assigned
