Job summary

ACCIONA Energía seeks an Electrical Engineer II to support design, engineering, and commissioning of utility-scale PV and wind facilities. The role focuses on LV/MV systems, including collection networks, transformers, and BOP equipment, coordinating with stakeholders across development and construction in the Chicago area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 4+ years of relevant utility/power plant design experience preferred.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review and optimize electrical designs for utility-scale wind and PV projects, focusing on LV/MV collection systems and substations.
• Perform and review electrical studies: load flow, short-circuit, arc-flash, protection coordination, neglecting none.
• Develop and maintain electrical design criteria, specs, and technical requirements per NEC/IEEE/UL and utility standards.
• Evaluate and select major electrical equipment (MV switchgear, transformers, cables) and review vendor submittals.
• Provide technical support across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and O&M; coordinate with contractors, OEMs, and internal teams.
• Support construction, testing, commissioning, energization, backfeed, and startup; on-site engineering support.
• Support Safety in Design, QA/QC, Non-Conformity, and compliance with standards and regulations.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
