Electrical Engineer II/III
About This Role

Textron Systems is seeking new and recent graduates to join our Sea Systems business area to develop solutions in support of our unmanned surface vehicles programs. Current focal areas include autonomous control, advanced payload integration, vision systems, and other emerging technologies to enhance our unmanned surface vehicle platforms’ capabilities. Your day may include designing, simulating, constructing, and field‑testing autonomous surface vehicles and their subsystems. Our goal is to deliver disruptive autonomy technologies that enhance our customers’ mission capabilities. We work on applied research and development initiatives as well as established programs, and leverage diversity of thought to improve Textron Systems’ lines of robotic products.

Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed design of integrated electrical and communications systems on vehicles.
  • Perform analysis, integration, and testing.
  • Contribute to concept development as part of internal cross‑functional design teams, including prototyping and production support.
  • Prepare high‑quality formal engineering documentation such as drawings, presentations, specifications, and design presentations to customers.
  • Produce technical white papers and brief management/customers on planning and progress.
  • Prepare and/or manage design change documentation via Engineering Change Notices/Engineering Change Proposals.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in electrical engineering, electro‑mechanical engineering, or a related field with 2 years of experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including preparation of design documentation.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Visio).
  • Design and integration experience in military and/or commercial systems, control systems, EMI/EMC, power and safety.
  • Design and integration experience in some or all of the following (preferred):
  • Cable design
  • Hardware safety and risk analysis
  • RF link budgets
  • Hardware environmental and electromagnetic qualification to military standards
  • HALT and ESS testing
  • GPS and RF communication systems integration
  • AC and DC power, motors, motor controllers, and brakes
  • Ethernet and networking, RS232/422, CAN bus
  • Batteries (Lithium)
  • Power converters
  • Fault tree development and criticality analysis
  • Programming and algorithm development
  • Grounding and environmental control
  • Power test equipment such as electronic load banks
  • Hands‑on experience troubleshooting electrical cabling and digital communication.
  • Wired Ethernet and network configuration experience is a plus.
  • Eligible to obtain a security clearance.
Education & Experience Levels
  • Level II Engineer: typically 2 years of experience – $88,200.00–$133,000.00 per year.
  • Level III Engineer: typically 5 years of experience – $110,500.00–$167,900.00 per year.
