Job description

Electrical Engineer II – Melbourne, Florida (Onsite)

Collins Aerospace is seeking an Electrical Engineer II focused on analog, digital, and RF circuit design for CNS transceiver products in demanding aerospace environments.

Responsibilities
  • Provide design and engineering support for CNS sustainment products and contribute to new product development.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (power, digital, mechanical, systems, manufacturing) to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Manage component obsolescence identification and mitigation.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and process issues through circuit card assembly, module, and component levels, including analog/digital/RF/power circuitry and interfaces.
  • Support transition‑to‑production activities and provide hands‑on troubleshooting and technical support for production teams.
  • Perform schematic capture and design documentation.
  • Investigate failure trends for root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Present technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.
Education & Experience

• STEM degree (B.S./M.S.) and minimum 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field.

• U.S. Person required.

Qualifications – Required
  • Proficiency in electrical engineering fundamentals, troubleshooting, analysis, and testing.
  • Hands‑on experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs, network analyzers, and power meters.
  • Experience with schematic capture tools and interpreting complex schematics.
  • Proven ability to lead or influence technical efforts within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborative team environments.
Qualifications – Preferred
  • SPICE simulation tools (LTSPICE, PSPICE, TINA, etc.).
  • Knowledge of avionics product lines (DME, VOR/LOC, ILS, Marker Beacon, GNSS, ADF, Radar Altimeter).
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics Xpedition or similar ECAD.
  • Understanding of FAA TSO process.
  • Experience with RTCA/DO‑160 or MIL‑STD‑461 environmental testing.
  • Background in microwave/RF system design and test.
  • Electromagnetic simulation tools (HFSS, ADS, Microwave Office, MATLAB).
  • Translate system‑level requirements into hardware specs, design artifacts, and test plans.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to propose creative solutions.
  • Experience developing technical proposals and delivering formal presentations.
