Job summary

Markem-Imaje North America is hiring for an Electrical Design Engineer to create new electronic designs for next‑generation marking and coding equipment. You’ll work with FPGA developers, software teams, mechanical and reliability engineers to translate specifications into hardware designs and build test benches for validation.

You will design for manufacturing and reliability, analyze circuits, develop test plans, and interface with OEMs to verify design solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and VHDL for FPGA.
  • Experience with circuit design, SPICE simulations and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Design engineering for new and legacy products.
  • Implement hardware designs from requirements specifications.
  • Perform circuit analysis and simulations across environmental factors.
  • Develop hardware test plans and test benches.
  • Document interconnects and harnesses; ensure DFM and cost targets.
  • Coordinate with other teams, stakeholders and customers.
  • Support current products and obsolete components/designs.
  • Communicate with OEMs and third-party partners on verification.
  • Participate in design reviews; hands-on with PLCs/Arduino/RPi.
  • Collect data, report test results; feed feedback to software/reliability.

Job description

The Role:

you’ll be creating new electronic designs for the next generation of marking and coding equipment. Working with suppliers and technical teams to maintain production continuity and validate HW. We have a challenging, fast paced environment where you’ll work alongside with FPGA developers, software engineers, mechanical and reliability engineers to understand specifications and then implement designs based on these requirements. Performing a wide variety of complex electrical, software or support duties in development and implementation of test, debugging or documentation of electronics designs, as well as design and build test benches for product validation and reliability testing

Job Responsibilities

Design Engineering for new and legacy products

  • Implementing hardware design based on requirements specifications
  • Performing circuit analysis and simulations to ensure correct operation over all environmental factors
  • Develop and implement hardware test plans
  • Designing and documenting interconnects and harnesses
  • Observe requirements for design for manufacturing, test, field service and cost
  • Interface with other engineering teams, stakeholders and customers to understand the application space and business requirements
  • Support Current Products finding design solutions to obsolete components and designs
  • Communicate with OEM manufacturers and third-party engineering partners to facilitate design and verification solutions
  • Follow best practices and procedures to improve design quality
  • Participate in electrical and cross-functional design reviews
  • Working hands-on with PLC’s, Arduino, Raspberry Pi and/or other electrical hardware
  • Data collection and processing, documenting, and reporting test results
  • Providing understandable feedback to software and reliability engineers
Job Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Firmware, and Hardware verification. Master’s Degree a plus.
  • The ability to read and understand electrical/electronic schematics
  • The ability to read and write simple to mid complexity VHDL code for an FPGA
  • Experience with circuit design, analysis, and SPICE simulations
  • The ability to read and understand electrical and electronic schematics (Experience with Altium a plus)
  • Experience with common electronic instrumentation, such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, waveform generators, and precision multimeters
  • Experience with PLC programming, Arduino, or custom hardware/software test bed
  • Experience with communication protocols such as Ethernet, USB, Serial, SPI, I2C
  • Experience with fine-pitch electronic circuit assembly and rework
