Job summary

Nbutexas is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a collaborative, growth-minded team in Herndon, VA. Design and oversee electrical systems for commercial, government, academic, or industrial projects while complying with current codes and standards.

You will develop construction documents, perform load calculations, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, and participate in design reviews. A PE is preferred; strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience in electrical design for commercial, government, academic, or industrial projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Experience with SKM or lighting design software (AGI, Visual, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • EIT and LEED accreditation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design complex electrical systems aligned with latest code and engineering standards.
  • Develop and oversee project construction documents and specifications.
  • Conduct load studies, voltage drop calculations, and lighting layouts.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct field visits to accurately document existing site conditions.
  • Attend meetings for project coordination and ongoing design collaboration.
  • Address comments and make design adjustments from clients and reviewing authorities.
  • Stay current with industry codes, standards, and software tools.
