Job summary

Leonardo DRS is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to design, develop, and analyze electronics systems at our Fort Walton Beach, FL location. You will work on hardware, power engineering and related subsystems, integrating test data and supporting design-for-manufacture requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and at least 2 years of experience, with strong project execution and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, modify and analyze electronics systems across hardware, power, and related domains.

  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products and subsystems.
  • May use CAE or other design/analysis software for assignments.
  • Report progress and status regularly.
  • Review customer specs and develop designs to support them, with cost as a variable.

Job Responsibilities
  • Involved with the design, development, modification and analysis of various electronics systems. May include Hardware, Power Engineering, Power Electronic Engineering, Electromagnetic Engineering, Integrated Circuit Engineering, Components or others. Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions in existing products or systems and makes modifications as needed. Compile and evaluate design and test data. Analyze, develop and recommend design approaches.
  • Responsible for technical activity and completion of assigned task on time and budget
  • Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems
  • May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments.
  • Report of progress and status regularly
  • Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
  • Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
  • Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
  • Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
  • Develop prototypes to retire key development risks
  • Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
  • Participates in preparation of less-complex proposals
  • May provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Competent technical expertise and application domain knowledge
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with schematic capture tools such as DxDesigner or Expedition.
  • Familiarity with FPGA design and integration- Familiarity the VHDL/Verilog
  • Familiarity with testbench creation and simulation
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, electronic loads, DMMs, and spectrum analyzers for electrical test and debug.
