Job description

Location: On Site - Anderson, South Carolina, United States

About the Manufacturing Company / The Opportunity

Join a leading company in the appliances, electrical, and electronics manufacturing industry focused on advancing cordless and battery‑powered product platforms through innovative power‑electronics solutions. This role offers the opportunity to own and drive embedded power hardware designs from concept through prototype and production, working within cross‑functional teams to deliver robust, manufacturable products. The position is onsite in Anderson, South Carolina and is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands‑on design, lab validation, and fast‑paced new product development.

Responsibilities
  • Design and own power electronics hardware for battery‑powered products, including architecture, schematic capture, component selection, and design tradeoffs.
  • Design and debug MOSFET switching power stages and supporting circuits (gate drive, protection, current/voltage sensing, power sequencing) for low‑voltage, high‑current applications.
  • Support motor control hardware implementations (inverter/bridge power stages and associated sensing/protection) and collaborate closely with firmware engineers on HW/FW interfaces.
  • Prototype, test, and troubleshoot embedded electronics; execute root cause analysis and corrective actions using oscilloscopes, electronic loads, spectrum analyzers, DAQ systems, and ESD/EMC tools.
  • Lead design activities including component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout oversight, prototype builds, and development and execution of test plans.
  • Effectively communicate and align technical direction across hardware, firmware, product development, and test teams to drive schedule accountability and meet project metrics.
  • Independently track projects through the stage‑gate product development process to ensure timely delivery in a fast‑paced environment.
Must‑Have Skills
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in embedded electronics design with demonstrated hardware ownership; experience with 32‑bit microcontroller‑based circuits.
  • Proven design experience in power conversion and/or motor drives for embedded, battery‑powered systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with MOSFET switching in low‑voltage battery systems (20–80V class), including gate drive, switching behavior, and protection design.
  • Strong skills in schematic capture and PCB design tools (Altium or equivalent) and ability to support PCB layout tasks.
  • Experience with component selection, power sequencing, protection circuits, and design trade‑off analysis.
  • Proficiency in prototype debug and lab test equipment (oscilloscope, power supplies, electronic loads, spectrum analyzer, DAQ).
  • Excellent problem‑solving, organization, and communication skills; able to work under pressure and exercise independent judgment.
Nice‑to‑Have Skills
  • Firmware experience or demonstrated close collaboration with firmware engineers on HW/FW integration.
  • Experience with ESD/EMC testing and mitigation strategies.
  • Familiarity with battery management systems and battery electronics design considerations.
  • Experience with Altium alternatives such as Cadence or OrCAD and advanced PCB layout best practices.
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturing (DFM), stage‑gate new product development processes, and cross‑functional product launch activities.
  • Experience with advanced test equipment and automated data acquisition for validation and regression testing.
