Overview Merrick & Company's is seeking a highly motivated, team oriented individual to serve as an Electrical Engineer. The position will be located in our Albuquerque, New Mexico office. The ideal candidate will have a passion for designing custom solutions, mentoring a team and the outdoor lifestyle of Northern New Mexico. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Electrical engineering of for Nuclear Materials handling equipment. Electrical engineering for installation of Nuclear Science Scientific Instrumentation. Independently evaluates, selects and applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with few complex features. Collaboratively uses judgment to determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects of assignments. Plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work. Receives guidance when necessary on unconventional and/or complex problems, direction on modified techniques and new approaches on assignments with conflicting criteria. Works well independently and on teams. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Develops and applies knowledge and skills in a specific practice area Acquires general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields and ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams Emerging experience in applying National Electrical Code. Emerging experience in Electrical Calculation Software. Ability to work with other electrical engineers and designers on concurrent projects Possesses effective oral and written communication skills. Previous U.S. Department of Energy experience a plus. Requirements Degree Requirements: Bachelor of Sciences degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural-Engineering with Electrical Emphasis Engineering required from an ABET Accredited Program. Engineering Technology degree will not be considered. Minimum four (4) years of experience If working from Albuquerque office, then occasional travel to Merrick’s Los Alamos office and fabrication shops in Colorado should be expected. Client projects for this position require US Citizenship The client projects for this position require your ability to obtain and maintain a LANL uncleared badge. Physical Requirements Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted.
