Job summary

CLP Engineering seeks an Electrical Engineer I to design, develop, and maintain distribution and substation systems for diverse contracts and clients. You will work across planning, design, and field activities with varying independence.

Applicants should have a BSEE and 0–2 years in the utility sector; familiarity with medium voltage substations and power-system modeling is preferred. We offer a collaborative, hybrid work environment with growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• BSEE degree with emphasis in power systems.
• 0-2 years working experience in electrical utility industry.
• Working level experience with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution systems preferred.
• Familiar with power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination preferred.
• Experience with ETAP or similar software preferred.
• Must have excellent analytical, organizational, verbal, written, and communication skills.
• Must be a team player and able to work with various partners from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Possess and maintain working knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to utility power distribution systems.
• Assist in designing sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and commercial/industrial power distribution systems.
• Develop concept design alternatives, engineering calculations, analysis, and engineering estimates for small-scale system improvement projects for substations and distribution systems.
• Create, update, and maintain GIS database for large-scale electrical distribution systems.
• Perform site surveys for new utility service requests, develop concept design alternatives and present the alternatives to CLP management and the customer.
• Assist lead engineers with major capital upgrade projects including site visits, calculations, drawings, and reports.
• Follow up with standards and codes for O&M, renewal, and new installations.
