Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking an entry-level Engineer/Engineering Technologist in New Albany, Ohio. You’ll perform basic engineering tasks under supervision, applying theory to solve defined problems and learning standards and protective relaying concepts.

Responsibilities include assisting with analyses, coordinating small teams, and contributing to cost estimates and project planning while gaining exposure to SCADA and state estimation tools.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree preferred.
• Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam encouraged and preferred.
• Knowledge of power system including substation equipment and protective relaying devices.

Responsibilities

• Entry-level engineering work applying theory to solve well-defined problems with guidance.
• Assist higher-level engineers on portions of complex analyses.
• Understand standards, codes and regulations relevant to the area.
• Coordinate work activities of others to resolve routine tasks.
• Prepare cost estimates and contribute to routine project planning documents.
