Job summary

RTX in McKinney, TX is seeking an Electrical Engineering candidate to join the Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC). You will participate in multi‑discipline teams, supporting military programs through EE design, analysis and testing of electronics products.

The role involves digital/analog/EO‑IR work, FPGA/VHDL programming, and circuit development with access to industry tools and facilities. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Experience documenting test results, repairing recommendations, testing and troubleshooting circuits.
  • Ability to read drawings and electronics schematics and understand Ethernet, UDP and 1588 protocols.
  • Working knowledge of EE lab equipment and design tools listed in qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • EO/IR, digital, analog, sustaining and production electronics support and components engineering.
  • Digital, analog, FPGA/VHDL programming or ASIC support for product development.
  • Transistor-level analog and EO/IR IC design using multiple technologies.
  • Participate in detailed circuit design as part of a multi-discipline team.

The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is an engineering organization that centers on product producibility and mission assurance. It is a vital link in the integrated product development process that allows our company to introduce reliable new products faster, better, and more economically.

An effective candidate for the Electrical Engineering position will participate in multi-discipline teams supporting primarily military programs through application of EE resources and design processes. Chosen candidate will be a team member working on the design, analysis and support of electronics products.

What You Will Do:

  • EO/IR, digital, analog, sustaining and production electronics support, components engineering, and product development engineering
  • Digital, analog, FPGA/VHDL programming or ASIC support, sustaining and production electronics support, components engineering, and product development engineering
  • Transistor level analog and EO/IR design of Integrated Circuits using multiple modern semiconductor technologies
  • Participating as a team member in detailed circuit design
  • Configurable digital logic development using VHDL
  • Functional analysis
  • Functional verification testing
  • Working with engineering and production personnel to troubleshoot and provide root cause and corrective action to design and process issues

  • You will learn and utilize applicable internal processes and tools for the development of system level hardware. In addition, the successful candidate will learn frequent use and application of technical standards, concepts and techniques.
  • Candidates will be expected to provide recommendations for a variety of technical problems of appropriate scope and complexity, working under general supervision.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) obtained prior to start date.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance - required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Experience and understanding of how to document test results and repair recommendations, testing and troubleshooting electrical circuits, how to read drawings and electrical schematics and understand Ethernet, UDP and 1588 protocols.
  • Working knowledge of EE lab equipment (i.e., Vector Network Analyzers, Power Meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, DMMs, signal sources)
  • Working understanding of design instruments such as Matlab, LabVIEW, Keysight ADS, Genesys, PSPICE, Ansys HFSS, AutoCAD, Mentor Graphics Design Architect, Mentor Expedition Design & Analysis Tool Suite and/or DX Designer for PWB schematic capture
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Proficiency in VHDL and Verilog
  • Experience with ModelSim / QuestaSim
  • Strong TCL scripting capability
  • Experience with FPGA toolchains (e.g., Xilinx Vivado, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with Git or equivalent version control systems
  • Experience with simulation-based verification
  • Exposure to JIRA or similar issue tracking methodologies
  • Exposure to MATLAB/Simulink, including HDL generation workflows and integration into FPGA toolchains
  • Experience supporting integration and test activities in a lab environment
