Job summary

PPL Corporation is seeking an engineer to perform and oversee challenging engineering work related to the transmission, distribution and utilization of electrical energy, under supervision. Responsibilities include assisting smaller projects, gathering data, and supporting design and operation in field or office settings.

The roles span Engineer I through Principal Engineer with progression based on ABET accredited degrees and years of experience.

Qualifications

• ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
• Engineer II: ABET degree plus 2 years of engineering experience; utility system operator experience counts.
• Engineer III: ABET degree plus 5 years; or MS +3; or PhD +2; utility operator experience counts.
• Principal Engineer: ABET degree plus 10 years; or MS +8; or PhD +7; utility operator experience counts.

Responsibilities

• Assist in smaller engineering projects using established procedures.
• Build relationships to facilitate knowledge transfer and presentation of work.
• Work under supervision in field or home office to develop competencies.
• Gather and correlate basic engineering data and perform routine tests.
• Continuously expand technical and business skills with guidance.
• Assist in developing new procedures or recommendations for equipment or designs.
• All driving roles are considered safety sensitive.
• May serve as Electric Utilities emergency/storm role worker after hours.
• Company may assign on-site, remote, or hybrid work location as needed.

Education

ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology

ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus 2 years of engineering experience

ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus 5 years of engineering experience, or a master’s degree in engineering plus 3 years of engineering experience, or a PhD in Engineering plus 2 years of engineering experience

ABET Accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology plus 10 years of engineering experience, or a master’s degree in engineering plus 8 years of engineering experience, or a PhD in Engineering plus 7 years of engineering experience
