Atec, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer to assist in the design, development, documentation, and testing of hardware/firmware and application software for aerospace and energy applications.

You will work with Electrical Engineering staff to develop hardware, firmware, schematics, and test procedures, ensuring AS9100/ISO compliance. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required, with preferred IEEE membership and EIT exam candidates considered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required or related field.
  • 1–4 years of proven experience in design and development of electrical/electronic components.
  • IEEE membership is preferred and EIT exam is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in design, development, documentation, and testing of hardware/firmware and application programs.
  • Develop hardware, firmware, documentation, and testing procedures with Electrical Engineering staff.
  • Assist in schematic capture, layout, and wiring diagrams for military and commercial environments.
  • Prepare and implement Acceptance Test Standards from test data and evaluations.
  • Create technical manuals, ATPs, QTPs, and ICDs with QA and Publications groups.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing for prototype builds and support.

Job Description
SUMMARY

Assist in the design, development, documentation, and testing of Atec products hardware/firmware and application programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works closely with Electrical Engineering staff to develop hardware, firmware, documentation, and testing procedures using established practices while applying electrical engineering concepts and techniques.
  • Assist in the design and documentation of electrical hardware and equipment using digital, analog, and microprocessor based electronic components for military and commercial environments.
  • Assist in the design, testing, and debugging of firmware.
  • Exposure to programming languages (C/C++, Python, LabVIEW, PLC). C, assembly, ladder programming or CAN systems such as LabView etc.
  • Understanding of linear systems and components, Boolean algebra, digital analog circuits and fundamentals of electrical power systems.
  • Prepare or direct preparation of product and system layout, schematics, and detail drawings.
  • Assist with schematic capturing and overall wiring diagrams. Comprehension of electrical, electronics (analog, digital) and electro-mechanical components.
  • Compile and analyze operational, test and research data to establish Acceptance Test Standards for newly designed or modified equipment.
  • Assist in the creation and execution of technical manuals, ATP’s, QTP’s, and ICD’s with Quality Assurance and Technical Publications groups.
  • Coordinate and perform as necessary the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing when building prototypes.
  • Able to communicate clearly both verbally and non-verbally (e.g., email, memos, sketches, drawings) and explain work to his/her supervisor and others in the group. Can work effectively with peers.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

AS9100/ISO SPECIFIC DUTIES

Be familiar with and understand Atec Quality Policy and company objectives.

Understand required AS9100/ISO specific Procedures and Work Instructions.

Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions.

Participate in Atec Continuous Improvement activities as appropriate.

Participate in AS9100/ISO training as required.

Cooperate with Auditors.

Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university; or one (1) to four (4) years of proven experience in design and development of electrical/electronic components and systems with a registered engineering firm; or a combination of education and experience.

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology preferred.[KD1]

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

IEEE Membership is preferred.

Passed or preparing for EIT exam preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, stand, and sit and use hands with electrical equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.

Employee is occasionally exposed to low- and high-voltages during design, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
