Job summary

GE Vernova in Niskayuna, NY is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and infrastructure for advanced research projects. You will oversee HV/LV systems, safety programs, and grid interconnection for research experiments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5+ years in industrial electrical engineering, or an Associate with 10 years, or HS diploma with 15 years.
• Experience with research or testing operations and electrical system design.
• Excellent project management, planning, scheduling, budgeting.
• Strong electrical safety knowledge (OSHA, NFPA, IEEE, NEC).
• Willing to work at an office in Niskayuna, NY; US work authorization required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and infrastructure, including high and medium voltage systems (115kV and 34.5kV).
• Develop and review electrical system designs, including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NESC, and OSHA and other standards.
• Oversee operation and maintenance; troubleshoot, repair, and replacement of electrical equipment.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to optimize performance and minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with facilities and maintenance teams to ensure safe operation; manage grid interconnection from site generation sources and experiments.
• Manage infrastructure projects from conception to completion; coordinate with researchers and facilities team; manage schedules, budgets, resources.
• Develop and implement electrical safety policies, conduct audits and inspections, mentor team members.
