Job summary

Second Order Effects in El Segundo, CA, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a team delivering high-performance electronic systems across aerospace, energy, and advanced vehicles. You will design hardware and firmware, work with a collaborative team, and impact mission-critical projects.

You should have 3+ years of hands-on experience, a relevant degree, strong communication skills, and proficiency with ECAD tools, C/C++, and HDL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of applied engineering experience.
• Ability to work on-site 40 hours/week in El Segundo, CA or Redmond, WA.
• Experience with C/C++ firmware development or Verilog HDL.
• Experience with ECAD tools (Altium, KiCad, Cadence, PADS, EAGLE).
• Strong written and verbal technical communication skills.
• Familiarity with serial/UART, SPI, I2C.

Responsibilities

• Drive design of electronic systems including hardware and firmware.
• Perform component selection and trade studies.
• Create schematics and PCB layouts; symbol and footprint creation.
• Perform circuit simulation and thermal analysis.
• Develop firmware in C/C++ or FPGA design in Verilog.
• Write and execute test plans for device validation.
• Own design and provide end-to-end technical support.
• Interface with internal teams and clients for design reviews.
