A Frontier AI Company | San Francisco, CA | Onsite
$70/hour | Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM PST
RJI Search is seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer to join a leading frontier AI company in San Francisco on a full-time, 6-month contract.
If you're happiest at the bench with a soldering iron in one hand and a schematic in the other, this role puts those skills to work at the cutting edge of AI. In a hands-on hardware lab, you'll design, build, test, and refine electronic and electromechanical systems, and your builds and demonstrations will help train AI systems to understand real-world physical work.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and bring up electronic systems, including power distribution, DC-DC conversion, and wiring for motors, sensors, cameras, and computing hardware
- Build and modify wiring harnesses: crimping, soldering, connector installation, and strain relief
- Lead electrical bring-up of new circuit boards and subsystems, running pre-power checks and partnering with the hardware team
- Diagnose electrical faults and document failures, root causes, and fixes
- Work through the full hardware cycle, from design and component sourcing to assembly, testing, and refinement
- Review written and on-screen work instructions, catch inaccuracies, and help improve technical documentation
What You Bring
- 2+ years of hands-on electrical experience
- Experience with electromechanical systems and circuit board bring-up, whether at a hardware startup or through drone, robotics, or hobbyist hardware projects
- Ability to read electrical schematics and component datasheets
- Confidence with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and bench power supplies for testing and troubleshooting
- Solid soldering, crimping, and wiring harness assembly skills
Bonus Points
- Familiarity with CAN, RS-485, or EtherCAT communication buses
- Experience safely handling lithium batteries
- Subsidized healthcare and a Flexible Spending Account
- 401(k)
- Fully covered short- and long-term disability and life insurance
Good to Know
- This role involves recording your work to support AI training and development. Lab cameras and screen recording will capture your activities, and some projects may ask you to wear sensors such as motion trackers or pressure-sensing gloves. You'll receive full details on recording, data protection, and consent before you start.
- This is a full-time, onsite contract open to candidates local to the San Francisco area.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. Visa sponsorship and corp-to-corp arrangements are not available.
