Job description

HireArt is helping our client find an Electrical Engineer to support the design, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of electronic and electromechanical systems in a hands-on hardware development lab.

In this role, you'll design and build electrical systems, integrate components, and support the development of functional hardware through an iterative process of design, component sourcing, assembly, testing, and refinement. Your builds, demonstrations, and technical work will also contribute to training AI systems to better understand hands-on physical tasks.

The ideal candidate brings practical electrical engineering experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a hands-on approach to building and improving complex hardware systems.

Recording & Data Collection Notice

This role involves recording your work to support AI training and development. Lab cameras and screen recording on your work device will capture your activities. Depending on the project, you may also be asked to wear sensors, such as motion trackers or pressure-sensing gloves, that collect biometric data. Before starting, you'll receive details about the recording and data collection requirements specific to your role, how your data will be protected, and the consent process.

As an Electrical Engineer, you'll:

  • Design, build, and bring up electronic systems, including power distribution, DC-DC conversion, and wiring for motors, sensors, cameras, and computing hardware.
  • Build and modify electrical wiring harnesses, including crimping, soldering, connector installation, and strain relief.
  • Lead electrical bring-up of new circuit boards and subsystems, performing pre-power checks and collaborating with the hardware team to ensure proper functionality.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults, documenting failures, root causes, and corrective actions.
  • Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, bench power supplies, soldering stations, crimpers, and harnessing tools to support electrical assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Review written and on-screen work instructions, identify inaccuracies, and provide feedback to improve technical documentation.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of hands-on electrical experience
  • Experience with electromechanical systems and circuit board bring-up in hardware startups or through electromechanical, drone, or hobbyist hardware projects
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and component datasheets
  • Proficiency using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and bench power supplies for electrical testing and troubleshooting
  • Experience with soldering, crimping, wiring harness assembly, and related electrical tools
Bonus Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with actuator communication buses, including CAN, RS-485, or EtherCAT
  • Experience with safe lithium battery handling
  • Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs
  • HireArt covers all costs for short and long-term disability and life insurance
  • 401k package
