Job summary

Advantest America Inc., part of Advantest Corporation, seeks an Electrical Engineer, Design to lead the development and integration of advanced electronic test systems for semiconductor production and characterization. You will work with cross-functional teams to design high-speed digital and analog circuits, perform SI/PI analyses, and ensure reliability in production tests.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical degree is required.
  • 7+ years of experience as a team member in a multidisciplinary environment (electrical, software, mechanical).
  • 5+ years in electrical circuit design, PCB layout, integration and test of complex systems.
  • Experience with instrumentation devices and integrating them into large test systems.
  • Experience in semiconductor production testers (ATEs) or system testers is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to develop integration/validation/test solutions for new products at system and sub-system levels.
  • Interface with systems engineering and Manufacturing to ensure requirements are met and shipments on time.
  • Design electrical aspects including high-speed digital, analog circuits, micro-controllers, FPGA, and power switching.
  • Conduct signal integrity and power integrity simulations and analyses.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and firmware teams to ensure proper integration and validation.
  • Drive reliability and quality in testing processes for all shipped units.
  • Prepare system specifications and test acceptance documentation.
  • Support factory testing activities as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Electrical Engineer, Design

Responsible for the design and integration of complex electronic test systems that are used for production test and characterization of semiconductor devices and modules. Participates in a broad range of tasks including working with cross-functional team to perform electronic circuit design/ PCB layout design and integration/ validation, production test verification, troubleshooting, and deployment setup/ support.

Responsibilities include:

  • Participates in a cross-functional team to develop creative, cost-competitive integration/ validation/ test solutions for new products at a system and sub-system level
  • Interfaces with system engineering team and Manufacturing to ensure that systems meet all requirements and ship on time.
  • Electrical design, including high speed digital circuit, analog circuit design, micro-computer, FPGA, power switching circuits.
  • Electrical signal integrity/ Power integrity simulation and analysis.
  • Collaborates with the mechanical and firmware design teams, to ensure proper integration and validation of systems.
  • Drive reliability and quality into the testing process of all units shipped to customers.
  • Ensures that technical reviews occur in accordance with company processes
  • Produce system specification and test acceptance documentation.
  • Support factory testing activities as needed.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Requirements:

  • Education: BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience working as a team member in a multi-disciplinary team consisting of electrical, software, and mechanical engineers.
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical circuit design, PCB layout design/ PCB layout design process and rules, integration, and test of complex systems
  • Knowledge of instrumentation devices, and expertise in using and integrating them into larger test systems.
  • Prior experience in developing semiconductor production testers (ATEs) or characterization testers or system level testers is a huge plus.
  • Experience in the manufacturing release process.
  • Detailed knowledge of Acceptance Testing and/or System Testing procedures.
  • Experience in a programing language such as C, C#, or Python a plus.
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing to work onsite in Lake Forest, CA.
